Working Doctors Gathering

5 working doctors from Kerala namely Dr.Vimal, Dr.Tony, Dr.George, Dr.Anumodh and Dr.Aloshi met together in Thrissur on the 20^th of December. It was a blessed time of praying and sharing as Fr.Lawrence Thaikattil guided them in exploring the possibilities of living out their role as a Christian missionary doctors to the fullest.

Proficuus

‘Proficuus” an initiative of the Kerala Jesus Youth Professional team , which was held for the fifth time in a row from 2004 onward.This year two such programmes were conducted from 1st to 5th of october and from the 2st to the 8th of December at Emmaus, Ernakulam, Kerala. It was attended by around 124 medical students who had completed their first year. The programme had two parts, a retreat and a training programme.Dr.Remya and Don Jose were the Gen.Coordinators and Dr.Arun Thomas and Aneesh were the Programme Coordinators of the programmes.

Reaching out to other doctors

It was indeed a journey with a difference. Mammen P Cherian(incharge of the core team) went on a mission trip from 21 october to 2 november to Delhi, Haryana , Bombay and Bangalore visiting a number of doctors and medicos and interacting with the members of various campus ministries across the country. It was more than challenging to meet people like Dr Balwinder Singh and Shashi Minz(Additional Secretary National Academy of Drugs and Narcotics,Faridabad, India) and to have a first hand experience of their zeal for evangelization . The trip was also fruitful in helping to fulfil the dream of building a strong network of medicos nationwide.

ProLife Programme in Chennai

A Prolife programme was held on 3rd and 4th of November 2008 at SIGA college, Chennai. Around 33 people attended this programme. Dr.Finto, Dr.Sojan and Mammen P Cherian were the resources for the programme.

A Digital Platform.

As Part of building a network comprising of medical students and working doctors and creating a platform where they can share common concerns, visions and ideas the core team launched a yahoo group. A warm welcome to all doctors with a desire to help stand up on a lamp stand for the gospel of truth in this world of evil around us so that we can support each other and strengthen each other.

Regional Doctors Conference Chennai

The first ever Regional Doctors Conference under the Jesus Youth banner happened at Chennai on the 11th and 12th of October ,2008 with 22 medical students and doctors from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. It was a beautiful time of looking afresh at the higher missionary calling of a doctor , and the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead in witnessing Christ to the medical fraternity in todays world. Dr. Edward Edezhath , Fr Thankachan, Dr. Viju Kuttickal, Dr.Finto Francis, Mr.Subin and Mr. Rodney Pereira were some of the resource persons for the gathering.

The New Core team

The Chennai Conference ended with the commissioning of a new team who would work towards Mission Doctors. Fr.Varghese (Animator JYNCT) anointed the new team.The team meets regularly and functions under the Jesus Youth national campus team. The team is guided by Siljo(Jesus Youth National Co-ordinator), Subin( Jesus Youth National Assistant Co-ordinator), Jordy Michael(Jesus Youth National Campus team co-ordinator), Mr. Rodney (JYNT) and Dr. Nishan Mathias. Led by Dr. Vimal (Elder), Reji Francis(ex-officio-National campus team), Mammen P Cherian(Incharge) ,the team members are Don Jose, Shwetha Ann Philip and Salma Varghese.
